Kim Marquez: The Thrilling Rides and Illuminating Lights that will leave you in Awe

The Best of Branson crew hit the streets of Branson and Silver Dollar City on a two-day Christmas writing adventure. Kim Marquez, a staff writer for the site, shared some of her thoughts.

My second time at Silver Dollar City was a success this past Tuesday on December 17,2018. Not only did I get the chance to ride the world’s tallest, fastest, steepest, spinning coaster, despite my fear of roller coasters, I also got to experience the beauty of the Christmas spirit surrounded by thousands of lights and cheery folks. Silver Dollar city is more than a theme park; it’s a place where you can visit with family and friends and experience the peaceful grounds and unique shops.

Time Travel Fun

The Time Traveler ride is full of mystery and suspense, as you go back in time. This $26-million Steampunk inspired ride will get you spinning out of your seat, including three inversions and two launches—its secret are magnets. Each coaster is mounted on a fin that allows it to freely spin like clockwork, making it a thrilling experience that will leave you wanting more.

Over 6.5 million lights

My favorite part of Christmas has always been the bright joy and festivities spent with family and friends. The best part of Christmas this year, so far, was experiencing the millions of lights towering and glowing at Christmas in Midtown, in the heart of Silver Dollar City Park. Every single inch of every building and tree were covered in colorful lights, illuminating the dark skies while people soaked in the Christmas spirit. As you make your way through the park, you hear children and grandparents happiness.

This spot is definitely a place I would return any day of the year.
