It is time to get out and hear the music, taste the foods and enjoy the best of Fall in a legendary Ozark mountain setting. While we all may be experiencing our travels with some adjustments, it’s refreshing for many to know that Silver Dollar City is in full planning stages to present top-notch Fall Festivals -- a trifecta of entertainment.
First up is the festival said to be made of the music that stirs the soul, American Southern Gospel with The Southern Gospel Picnic (August 27-September 7). This genre of music, found deep in our roots, is performed by an artist line-up that both glorifies the traditional and adds contemporary flair. Dayside, you will find music-filled outdoor stages. Then in the evening, a park favorite 12-night event, Southern Gospel Nights in the Echo Hollow Amphitheatre under the Ozarks sky. Check the website for the schedule of hundreds of some of the most well-known Southern Gospel performers. FOOD TIP: Do not forget to review the menu, as the House of Chicken & Fixins’ offers a variety of specialty foods and chicken cooked, fried and prepared in a multitude of ways.
September’s Country Music Days (September 11 -20) is another good line-up of national performers as Sawyer Brown and Shenandoah both come back by popular demand. Other rising stars and country performers take to the stages, too, plus some of the best of Branson country acts are included in the line-up.
Then light up with the kick-off of The Harvest Festival featuring Crafts, Cowboys and Pumpkins (September 23-October 31). An all-day and all-evening Citywide event, with visitors to the 1880 theme park finding demonstrating craftsmen, legendary cowboys presenting yesteryear lore, nationally-recognized pumpkin carvers, “best in the western business” of chuckwagon cooking and plenty of sweet mountain music.
Then, as 5:30pm strikes the old water clock, thousands of hand-carved pumpkins come aglow, as Pumpkin Plaza heats up with pumpkin-centric, glow-in-the-dark entertainment and all the famous (and highly creative) pumpkin food options call from every corner -- the variety is impressive from pumpkin funnel cakes and homemade pumpkin ice cream to pumpkin cappuccino.
And to think, there is still An Old Time Christmas (November 7-December 30)! Southern Gospel Picnic, Country Music Days, Harvest Festival and An Old Time Christmas Presented by Humana. For more information, check out their website at SilverDollarCity.com.
